Hello Everyone,

Throughout the past week or so I have finalized all of my projects at the FACVB. Everything from the Facility Guide, AD's List, Sports Calendar of Events, developing contacts, and finally to Interviews, this has been quite the ride! This internship has given me the opportunity to work with individuals who have taught me so much through this experience. Every project I worked on showed me a different side of how to be successful as a Sports Intern at the FACVB. The Facility Guide showed my computer skills in Excel as well developing a detailed informative tool for the FACVB. Creating the AD's list gave me the opportunity to learn about and meet individuals throughout the community. The Sports Calendar was a great way to meet new people in the Sport Industry in Fayetteville as well as provide the FACVB with every upcoming sporting event.

I'd like to thank everyone who was involved with helping me become successful in this journey of mine.

Hello Everyone,
This past week I finalized the Athletic Directors list as well as continuing to find events for the Sports Calendar. In addition to working with the Fireantz, I've also provided them with my resume for future career opportunities.

My tasks throughout the last week have included time management, prioritizing, and organization. Although it is coming down to the end of the semester and my college career I must stay focused on what my ultimate goal here is, to graduate from college! This internship has given me the opportunity to gain experience in a field where I can not only grow as a person but as an individual in the FACVB organization.

FACVB/Fireantz

Hello to Everyone,

This week for the FACVB I have been working on a list of Athletic Directors for the Cumberland County Area as well as continuing working on gathering events for the Sports Calendar.

In addition to the FACVB, I have scheduled to shadow the Fireantz Game day operations for the last regular season home game on Saturday March 22, 2008.

It's been a short week, this week was Spring Break so not a whole lot has been going on. I've been organizing my internship notebook as well as gathering events in the Fayetteville area for the FACVB website. I'm also doing a spreadsheet for hours I've completed throughout my internship.

Hello Everyone! A quick update to those following along, the Facility Guide is finished! I've updated the aspects of the facility guide that are most important, now it's time to move on to bigger and better things! Today I interviewed Melody, the Director of Marketing as well as Tammy, the Office Administrator for a class project. I also started gathering information on Athletic Director's in the Cumberland County area and having that information readily available for the FACVB's website.

I've completed 229 of my 300 hrs. thus far....

Friday couldn't have come at a better time this week! Hello to everyone! Update on the internship, the Calendar of Events is in progress and going well. Dr. Combs, my Sport Management Association Professor informed me of his cycling club, and the events they have, so I am working on adding that to the calendar as well. I am also working on a workshop with fellow classmates on 'Sport Scholarships' and trying to market the workshop through the CVB. This will continue throughout the next few weeks!

Truggin along..

Hello All!

Since my last post, things have been hectic. Everything is going well at the FACVB. I have completed the Facility Guide (with updates here and there when needed) and added weekly updates to the Calendar of Events.

I am currently maintaining a current listing of tournament and local athletics being held at all sporting facilities in the county. Each venue will have an updated calendar with all projected sporting events for the upcoming season. This will be updated as I recieve information provided to me from different sporting venues. This is an ongoing process and will be updated everyday!

So far, I have completed 180 hours, and I have 120 left to complete my internship.

Hola! It's that time again, BLOG TIME! =)

Since my last post, i've continued updating the Facility Guide. It takes a numerous amount of time to go through and fill in every single blank in a spreadsheet and that is exactly what i've been doing. In the past two weeks i've accumulated almost 25 hours. I've updated the Facility Guide, i've started to gather information on a Calendar of Events I will be developing, emailing Athletic Director's in the Cumberland County Schools for information, as well as keeping my Internship Notebook up to date. Lastly, I will be attending registration for a wrestling event at the Expo Center tonight. Needless to say, i've been staying tremendously busy!

The past week and a half has been all about time management. If I wasn't organized and completely obssessive complusive I would have not survived!! Luckily, time management has been something I've been working on for quite some time now, so I am sliding right on through.

Hopefully, next week will be just as exiciting!

As you all know, I was an intern at the FACVB the entire Fall 07' semester. A new semester has sprung upon us and i'm proud to say the FACVB will be seeing alot more of me! It is January 08' and nothing is more important than my internship at the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitor's Bureau this spring. I have many, many hours left in my internship and I will be updating everyone each week to exploit my progress.

I've started a new course, and I will be in the office this semester working on tasks throughout the next few months. Last semester, I completed a Facilities Guide which entitled every facilitiy in the Fayetteville area that was used for sporting events, conventions, and any type of sporting activity. I recorded new and updated renovations to facilities, as well as added new facilities. I am now in the process of filling every, if any blanks in the guide and updating it as much as possible. I am also taking everything in like a sponge to learn the fundamentals of working in a professional environment.

I look forward to working at the FACVB and I will continue to update those interested.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2007, Charlie Spigel, The Sports Manager of the Fayetteville Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau, attended my Sports Marketing class to sit in on what was going on in class and how it was run.

Charlie and I met and discussed updates on what I was to be doing, the Facilities Guide, as well as a calendar of events for surrounding Sport Teams in Fayetteville as well as sporting events.

On Thursday October 18, 2007, Charlie and I spent a day visiting clients, hotels,and schools, while developing relationships with clients and discussing events that are being held in Fayetteville. Some specific places we visited we're the Holiday Inn Bordeaux with the Sales Manager, Jessica Taylor; Vernon Aldridge, the Athletic Director at Pine Forest High School, and Doc Tinsley with Rugby Tournaments.

I have developed relationships with clients, as well as learning what it takes to build a tournament at a destination such as Fayetteville. Throughout the next few weeks, I will finish the Facilities Guide, and work on developing a Calendar of Events in Fayetteville with facilities such as MU, FSU, and HS Football Teams.

Hello to All! I am sorry I haven't been up to date with my blog, things have been crazy and I'm trying to get back on track! Since my last post, alot has been going on! My internship is going great, I'm getting tons accomplished, my work updated, and learning so much about the Fayetteville Area. On Tuesday, September 25, I met with a client through the Fayetteville Area Convention Visitor's Bureau. I also met the Hotel Manager, we toured the hotel and met with the client together. I am getting the chance to actually see how developing a tournament really works, starting with hotel accommodations, developing a proposal for rooms, and meeting with clients. I am working closely with Charlie Spigel to better my knowledge of being in the Sport Management business.

In addition to my internship, I'm enrolled in a Sports Marketing Class at Methodist where my team and I with information already provided, developed a Strategic Plan for the Fayetteville Area Sports Authority. This has been a huge project I have been working on and it's also helped with becoming more involved in my internship!

Meeting

Hello everyone....Today Tuesday September 11, 2007 I visited FACVB, met with Myron, and learned Infotrac, the database that FACVB uses regularly. We via telephoned Charlie Spiegel, the Sports Manager, as well as his wife and 9 month old son, and all went over the database.

I am also updating/getting in contact with facilities in the area and revising my spreadsheet I've been issued.

hello all! on tuesday august 28, i went to FACVB to visit with Myron. while at the bureau i took a tour of the facility, met everyone in and around the office, visited the transportation musuem (where additional members of the FACVB worked), set up my own email at the bureau, and accumulated enough brochures/maps to take me anywhere in the state of north carolina as well as Fayetteville!

within the next week, i will be getting in touch with local facilities, visiting, and researching them in and out.

Hello to all! My name is Nicole McLaughlin, and I am currently attending Methodist Univeristy. I am majoring in Sports Management and am in the beginning stages of my Internship with Fayetteville's Area Convention & Visitors Bureau! On Wednesday August 22, 2007, I met with Mr. Myron Jones, the Director of Sales, and discussed what the Bureau was and how I could help. I will be visiting the Bureau tomrrow Tuesday August 28 with more details!!
